A Good Time Was Had By All:
The first one was a blast, to be sure. We were a gaggle of knitting strangers meeting up at a coffee shop back in January because of some website created in Boston MA.
Due to KnittingSuzanne's dream of finally meeting other knitters (and using ravelry as the jumping off board) a whole slew of us Central Valleyers now realize we are NOT alone.
Today's meetup was a mix of new members and the usuals and it was awesome! It appears that the majority of us have been stitching away in solitude. Not a clue on how to find others like ourselves.
Little did we all know we were just one website away from finding each other!
It was so nice to hang out with Ariliss, Dragon Yady, Eweology (formerly wase10time), ficklephonebug, Grandy (I'm so glad you came, hon!) jojoy, nepturna, redpixisticks, sisterdi, ZubieJen
Did I miss naming you? It wasn't on purpose, I swear.
Chastise me in the comment section, if you please.
Without ravelry, I'd still be a lone knitter in the middle of Central Valley Freak'n Middle of Nowhere, California.
As an aside: ZubieJen - I really enjoyed spending time with you on the drive there and back. I hope we get to spend more time together. KnittingSuzanne - we really need to get together in Bakersfield or Porterville real soon. Jollyewe - this Thursday at Borders. That's all I have to say about that. sisterdi - I really enjoy hanging out with you. And finally: Joyce - I still really want to spend time with your Saturday morning knitting group. Your presence at the ravelry group is so appreciated and I want to reciprocate.
Now that I've read over this post, I think the title should be "In which I really say Really" or "Pictures to follow". Y'all that were there know I took all kinds of pictures! They are still uploading to flickr though.

Knitting Hates Me:

Exhibit 1B: This *is* a long-assed Addi Turbo needle.
Exhibit 1C: Same long-assed Addi Turbos.

WAAAAHHHAHHHAAAA!
Due to the fact I knitted on this sock . . . with long-assed Addi Turbo needles . . . while I was getting serviced at the bank for work today, coupled with the fact that the entire project stayed in my car until I got home and started back in on it . . . it wasn't the cats.
I think the cable got kinked and kind of exploded.
FUCKING FUCK!
Turns out, the only other size two dpns I have are bamboo. 4 bamboo needles x 200 yds of this yarn = 1 sucktacular knitting experience.
I have 3 sets of size ones and two sets of size threes in metal dpns.
So. I could just shrug my shoulders, change needles up or down one size and continue on. I could frog what I've done so far and restart on size ones or threes, but I've already frogged a sock from this yarn. Like an 'almost entire' sock. That one was too small for any adult human foot I'm related to, and way too big for the youngest member of the extended family.
Or, I can just soldier on using needles that grab the yarn and make it less fun to knit, and thus walk head-on into the Second Sock Syndrome wall.
G r r r r r.
Remind me again why I keep saying I love knitting so much?
Meanwhile! On the other side of the World . . .
Tomorrow is the March meetup of the Bakersfield ravelers. This time I am sharing a ride with a real live 'lives in my zip code' knitter that I've never met before! Hmmm. actually, I've never met ANY knitters in my zip code, so any one of them would be new to me, lol.
Thanks to ravelry, I keep meeting knitter after knitter in this area. For the last three years, Yahoo groups and Meetup.com and the yarn shop :eyeroll: in my town couldn't do what ravelry did in a few short months.
Is it possible that I really only love everything about knitting but the actual knitting itself?
Lemme just eat a few more of these while I ponder this whole "I love knitting" thing.

Jollyewe + Magic Loop
I pinky swear that I've been knitting!
This is Jollyewe's yarn, as well as an Addi Turbo size 2 long-assed circular.
The Magic of the Loop? It's magical, to be sure, but I don't know what I'm supposed to do needle-wise after I make the heel.
The story of my knitting life. Jumping in feet first is my M.O.
I'll figure it out when it gets to that point
For now, I'm just enjoying some good quality (and pretty) knitting with Jollyewe's scrum-de-licious fiber.

Hows about a little kiss? 03/03/08
This big boy lives between Porterville and Springville, on Globe Drive.
He's HUGE but still a young'un!
Today I realized that I need to blog earlier in the evening. It's an 'exercize' that takes commitment and dedicated time - like making dinner and doing laundry and knitting. All things that are part of my day and need to be handled timely.
Mostly because by the time I finally finish effing with my pictures, and flickr, and some ravelry time, and some radiogodsforum time (which I just resigned my Moderator status and y'all don't even know what that means to me) and all the other little things that add up to huge time suckers? . . . my free time is shot all to hell.
In the end, I would rather be knitting.
Speaking of knitting . . . I really have been doing that, I swear!!!
Magic Loop is my new love. Size 2 Addi Turbos and some of Jollyewe's sock yarn (the original blue/grey/white from months ago) are WIPping right along.
I could wax poetic over the PERFECT FREAKIN JOIN in my stitches finally.
Double points? Bite me, dpns. My heart now belongs to the Magic Loop of Love.
Oddly enough, my blog title was going to originally be "Death and Taxes" earlier today. I went to a funeral this afternoon, and have been working on our 1040/540 this evening.
Is it sick that I LOVE doing taxes? My own . . . clients . . . friends . . . strangers . . . countrymen. Love them.
Not so much loving the funerals lately though.
Oh! OHOHOH. I totally forgot until now too!
Mike's quad (that was stolen back in July of last year) was discovered by the police this weekend and I have plenty to say about that!
Tomorrow I'll plan that for early evening. Right after I start a load of laundry and after I hang out with poor 'Scilly in the back yard.
Here are some more of my goofy-assed pictures lately:

The Knitter Has Landed:
